Adelaide, South Australia – 13th October 2023 – Silentium Defence, the leaders in passive radar today announced its first US sales of the MAVERICK M8 passive radar system, and establishment of a US entity.
A key milestone in its global growth strategy, the US entity will enable Silentium to provide responsive customer engagement, and capitalise on recent momentum across the Defence, national security, and intelligence sectors.

The MAVERICK M8 passive radar is Silentium’s lightweight, ruggedised, soldier portable system for land tactical surveillance.
Used in a range of scenarios from counter-uncrewed aircraft system surveillance to force protection, and integrated air and missile defence, the MAVERICK M8 has been well received in both US and United Kingdom test and evaluation activities.

“Off the back of strong interest at DSEI in London, we are now heading to AUSA in Washington to demonstrate the advantage our MAVERICK M8 delivers in tactical surveillance scenarios.
“To have achieved this level of engagement with our systems, from the soldier portable variant right up to the MAVERICK S-series for surveillance of space in just over six years since we established Silentium, is proof of both solid product-market fit and confidence in Australian capability development.”
Silentium Defence was founded in late 2016 and has grown to more than 60 full and part-time employees across three facilities in Adelaide, South Australia, and multiple states.
Passive radar is a complimentary technology to active radar systems. It provides the same information picture to detect and track objects in an environment, but it does not emit a signal, is completely covert in operation, and doesn’t highlight the user’s presence, increasing situational awareness and survivability.
